According to Reuters reporting, US officials have ordered Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSM) to halt sales of its artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China. The Department of Commerce has imposed export restrictions on chips that go into building AI accelerator and graphics processing units (GPU), according to the Reuters source.

TSMC had reportedly halted sales to China-based Sophgo in late October after discovering one of its chips featured in Huawei's AI processor.
